Pic-1045a - The Assumption Church was built primarily for the large Italian population. It was founded in 1911 and dedicated in 1912. President (Mayor) William Rubly attended the laying of the cornerstone. The church size was approximately 44'x 90'. Church architect was Mr. A. Brigandi / Romanesque design. Approximate seating for 400 people. Built entirely of Tuckahoe marble. Assumption school was started in 1958, at the old Main Street School.
